Freefall
A stripped-back track about uncertainty, ambition, fear of the future, and learning to sit with what cannot be rushed.

Commentary
“Freefall” is about uncertainty and the feeling of not knowing what will happen next. My friend and collaborator Imogen “Ginny” Danbury and I sat down on my floor in my flat and started thinking about all the things we were scared of happening, and what we wanted in the future. We came up with the first line, “eat well and do better, that’s the motto for life,” and then got into the flow of it, each contributing how we felt about the uncertainty of the future and how our past could affect how we see it.
The production and instrumental of the song are very stripped back, with just acoustic guitar and some light drums, because it felt like the song needed to be very vulnerable and minimalistic.
Collaborating on this track helped me learn that not every creative decision can be forced quickly. Some parts of the song needed time, and working around other people’s schedules made me more patient with the process.
Credits & collaborators

Lyrics
Freefall
Verse 1
Eat well and do better
That’s the motto for life
When all you do is strive for more
You know you gotta survive
Chorus
People are scared of what they don’t know
People don’t change they just let go
People are scared of what they don’t know
People don’t change they just let go

Verse 2
Keep pushing, till you get pulled down
Don’t wanna go back to my small town
Going up in smoke the house burnt down
Everything feels possible till the money runs out
Bridge
Dive in deep
Don’t let go
If they sell you promises
They won’t let you grow
If you Cry for help
No one will come
Be careful what you wish for
Can’t leave when you're done
Verse 3
You gotta Frame yourself
Be a portrait on the wall
Don’t ask for help
Never let them see you fall
If you could see inside my mind
I know what you would find
And finally you’ll see what i’ve been saying
Chorus
People are scared of what they don’t know
People don’t change they just let go
People are scared of what they don’t know
People don’t change they just let go
