The Insomnia Club is early work that captures Charlotte developing her voice as a songwriter and recording artist. The songs explore a wider and less tightly connected range of themes, including early adolescence, identity, emotional growth, relationships and self-expression.
The album documents the starting point from which Charlotte’s current work has developed. Skills in lyric writing, vocal delivery, recording and arrangement have been honed further through the making of Family Business.
As a debut release, it offers a useful point of comparison with the stronger thematic connection and more developed collaborative process of Charlotte’s later work.
